Well, a full documentation is not yet written. HYSOMA is pretty simple of use, and soil functions are self explanatory. On the other hand, it is necessary to have an understanding of what soil features are calculated so that to avoid misinterpretation of the results.
For this reason, and also to help you in the process of using HYSOMA, we very much advise reading the following documentation based on:
- HYSOMA publication (EARSeL Workshop, 2011)
- HYSOMA teaching lecture (DEPEMOSSI Workshop, 2011)
Below we provide some additional information on HYSOMA I/Os & formats, and HYSOMA Soil Analyses Tools.
HYSOMA I/Os & formats:
Software inputs:
- Hyperspectral remote sensing image: Flat binary ENVI BSQ, integer, ENVI-Header, ground reflectance, scaling to 10.000 (=100% reflectance); or alternatively: standard HDF5 format
- Also possible: input Spectral library file, ENVI formal: input SpecLib *.esl
- optional: EUFAR overall pre-processing quality layer (as defined in DJ2.2.2): EUFAR water mask (water/land discrimination) quality layer
Software outputs:
- One file for each soil product;
- File nomenclature: basename of input + descriptive suffix;
- Format: ENVI, floating point;
- Run (pref. file, all parameters used etc.) as ASCII text;
- Soil Quality Layer.
Output thematic soil products – suffix to base file name, .dat & .hdr (CRAD= Continuum removed Absoprtion Depth)
_Iron_RI
_Iron_CRAD_460_620
_Iron_CRAD_760_1050
_Clay_SWIRFI
_Clay_CRAD_2120_2250
_Carbonate_CRAD_2300_2400
_Moisture_NSMI

Additional ouput thematic products – suffix to base file name, .dat & .hdr:
_QCSoil

_mask_NDVI
_mask_soildom
Additional auxiliary products – suffix to base file name:
__.log
Option "Generate Spectral Library File":
Generate a Spectral Library from an input Hyperspectral Image
Read a Field reference point file to extract the spectral library
Perform a spatial averaging (optional) to reduce some noise
Save the spectral library file. All soil products can be calculated using HYSOMA
The Field "Reference Point File" corresponds to a, at least, 3 columns text file in ASCII format
The system is able to detect the separation symbol but you can preferably use the symbol: COMMA (,) for separation between each column
The three first columns are:
POINT NAME, X_POS, Y_POS
"NAME1", 12341, 12341
"NAME2", 12341, 12341
ATTENTION, IN THE WIZARD ACII TEMPLATE SELECT SET THE LINE:
Data start at line: 2
TO 2 IF FIRST LINE OF THE FIELD REFERENCE POINT FILE HAS A HEADER
Please use the english decimal system: point
Option "Generate Validation File":
Generate a text Validation File
Read a text validation file to pick up some points and save in a new text file all values taken from all generated products
Perform an averaging given the window size if necessary
The output text file will be save in the output directory
The input file could be the same as the one used for calibration
The "Field Reference Point" file corresponds to a, at least, 3 columns text file in ASCII format
The system is able to detect the separation symbol but You can preferably use the symbol: COMMA for separation
The three first columns are:
POINT NAME, X_POS, Y_POS
"NAME1", 12341, 12341
'"NAME2", 12311, 12311
ATTENTION, IN THE WIZARD ASCII TEMPLATE SELECT:
Data start at line: 2
IF FIRST LINE IS A HEADER LINE OF THE ASCII FILE!!!
Please use the english decimal system: point
Option "Generate Calibration File":
2 options:
- Gain and offset are already computed
Soil product calibration is based on one value of "gain" and "offset" and applied to a soil product data
- Input field measurements
The "Field Measurement Point" file corresponds to a 4 columns text file in ASCII format
The system is able to detect the separation symbol but You can preferably use the symbol: COMMA for separation
The four first columns are:
POINT NAME, X_POS, Y_POS, VAL
"NAME1", 12341, 12341, 0.4334
"NAME2", 12311, 12311, 0.313
ATTENTION, IN THE WIZARD ASCII TEMPLATE SELECT:
Data start at line: 2
IF FIRST LINE IS A HEADER LINE OF THE ASCII FILE!!!
Please use the english decimal system: point
